Midwives have specialized training and experience in childbirth, including prenatal care, births, and postpartum care. Family Birth Services has some of the most experienced and respected midwives in the DFW area. All of our midwives hold a Texas license (LM) and a national (non-governmental) certification by The North American Registry of Midwives.
When you come into Family Birth Services, we know you’ll instantly fall in love with all of our midwives on staff. We allow each our clients to choose their primary care midwife. The midwife of your choosing will stay with you throughout your entire pregnancy from prenatal care to postpartum and breastfeeding support. Whether this is your first baby, or you have several children at home, a midwife can offer a personalized care plan and provide support throughout your pregnancy, labor, delivery and post-natal care.

Home Birth

The most significant benefit of delivering your child at home is the level of comfort of the mother. The comfort of the mother is paramount in ensuring easy, problem-free labor and delivery. If you are searching for a birthing experience with more privacy, then home birth might be the best option for you.

The family will have developed a relationship with the care team who will be delivering the child rather than encountering numerous hospital personnel throughout a birthing process there. Midwifery care blends together traditional and science to bring the less invasive care, that las lead to better outcomes for both mama and baby.

Water Birth

Family Birth Services believes water birth to be a safe and effective means of having your baby. When your body is in heavy labor or transition, the warm water in a birthing pool or tub provides a wonderful amount of calm and comfort to your body. We encourage our mothers using our Dallas/Fort Worth birthing center to take advantage of the birthing tub we have available. It has also been reported that laboring and birthing in water can have tremendous benefits in easing the intensity of labor.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal visits with our midwives provide individualized and compassionate care throughout your pregnancy. After we determine you are low risk according to state guidelines, we will begin your comprehensive maternity care plan, which starts with an initial two-hour visit in our birth center or in your home where your midwife will go over your health history, nutrition, and lifestyle.
Monthly check-ups will take place for the first 28 weeks, with bi-weekly and weekly appointments following as you get closer to birth. Sonograms are provided at our birthing centers as needed, as well as recommended lab work. Our prenatal visits last for about 30-60 minutes but can, of course, be extended if necessary. We want to make sure you have the opportunity to have all of your questions answered and, more importantly, give you the time and space to establish a trusting relationship with us.
Child birth classes are available at our Dallas Fort Worth center. In these classes, you will learn about labor and birthing options such as:
·      Labor and delivery in a birthing pool
·      Aromatherapy using all-natural essential oils
·      Having family/friends present for the birth
·      Rebozo techniques and the use of birthing balls
·      Hydrotherapy
·      Using music throughout the labor and birthing process
·      And helpful information to aid in caring for your newborn after he or she is born

Postpartum Care

Following the birth of your newborn, our services also extend to cover postpartum care. This includes checkups and an individualized personal care schedule for both mother and child with the first visit taking place within 48 hours of birth. Your postpartum care will continue with the same midwife team you had during your prenatal care and the birth of your child. We have found that this continuity and familiarity provides comfort and stability to the mother and the family as a whole.
If there is a concern or need through your recovery, we will do our best to handle everything and assist the mother and family in any way possible. Postpartum care is as important to the birth experience as any other aspect, and Family Birth Services will be there every step of the way to ensure a positive and memorable experience for everyone.

Breastfeeding Support

The staff of Family Birth Services is knowledgeable about breastfeeding and supports it unconditionally! We offer information, care, and instruction for any mother who is interested in breastfeeding, or nursing. Nursing has been shown to provide significant benefits for babies. Breast milk helps your baby to develop a strong immune system by providing natural antibodies that ward off bacteria and viruses.

Whether you have breastfed before or whether this will be a first-time experience for you, your midwife will be able to provide you with all the information and assistance you will need to make the experience successful and pleasant for you and your child.

A common misconception is that once a woman undergoes a cesarean birth, she will no longer be able to experience a vaginal birth. The fact is as many as 80% of women are able to have a safe and successful vaginal delivery after a cesarean section. At Family Birth Services birthing center our midwives are experienced in assisting with vaginal birth after cesarean, or VBAC.
Your caregiver will go over a comprehensive pre-birth checklist with you to assess the risk factors that determine whether or not you will be a candidate for this type of delivery. Each client is wonderfully unique and will be assessed for risk individually.

SneakPeek Clinical lets you learn your baby’s gender as soon as the next day. Visit our office, have blood drawn on site, and receive results via email as early as the next day.

While every person has her own DNA in her bloodstream, a pregnant woman’s bloodstream also contains DNA from her unborn child. SneakPeek looks for male chromosomes in a small sample of mom’s blood. If male chromosomes are found, that means the baby is a boy. If none are found, the baby is a girl. SneakPeek is 99.1% accurate at 8 weeks into pregnancy.

Cost is $ 129.00 for the test.  Please call to schedule your appointment.
